Brisbane Times: "Many international conflicts cannot be resolved without the participation of Russian diplomats"

By Vestnik Kavkaza

Australian flagship the Brisbane Times  published an article about Germany today, which condemns Russia for making a deal with Iran too early. The German Foreign Minister sided with the US Congress, which still cannot decide whether to impose sanctions against Iran or not, thus criticizing the decision of official Moscow to maintain a strategic partnership with Tehran.

According to German analysts, any move against Iran could significantly affect the course of the negotiations. Especially rapprochement with Russia, which is not desirable for Europe, relying on Iranian oil and gas.

The United States for its part, is trying by every means to influence the process of signing the agreement, which is actively opposed by an aggressive majority of the US Congress. However, it is worth remembering that many international  conflicts cannot be resolved without the participation of Russian diplomats. If Europe wants to treat Russia as a full partner, it should change its attitude towards the Ukrainian conflict. The European Community understands that the isolation of Moscow may lead to quite serious consequences that cannot be corrected by diplomatic means. Therefore, any criticism of Russia today is fairly mild in nature.

The US information portal National Interest wonders why the deal on Iran's nuclear program is dangerous. The Western states plan to prevent the development of nuclear weapons in Iran, and it is still in jeopardy because of the rather rigid positions of the countries participating in the negotiations. Previously, such negotiations taken on  North Korea were not crowned with success, as there is no single mechanism by which it was possible to control the nuclear status of a particular state. To date, it is an indisputable fact that the US president is trying to bring the deal to a resolution, but he is opposed by a powerful force in Congress. In addition, due to pressure from Israel, the conditions that were acceptable to all participants in the negotiations is not relevant, and if two years ago Iran had the right to develop civilian nuclear projects, now even they are designated to be a threat to world security.

But for Iran such restrictive measures are unacceptable. The leadership has repeatedly made it clear that it will not tolerate interference in its internal affairs. So what can happen if the agreement is still not signed?

The US leader said that in such a situation Iran will be threatened with additional sanctions, which would require a long time for them to take effect. However, if Iran really is developing a military nuclear program, it automatically becomes the most powerful state in the Middle East, and besides, it is an ally of neither Europe nor of the United States. Anyway, it is in the interests of all the countries participating in the negotiations to conclude an agreement, but in this regard the US and the European Union will have to reconsider their position and mitigate their course towards Tehran.

Another US publication The Hill writes today about the position of the Iranian president regarding the negotiations. Rouhani said that he is not interested in the problems of the US Congress, because the country is in talks with a number of powers that should eventually reach a consensus. In addition, Iran has already stated its position that the authorities will not sign a peace agreement if it does not guarantee the immediate lifting of sanctions.

The negotiations will be resumed on April 21, but analysts are skeptical, believing that the treaty won’t be signed.
