Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were held in a calm atmosphere without any violations, and in accordance with democratic procedures.

However,  during the voting day several opposition parties participating in the electoral campaign tried to attract the attention of observers, disseminating information about alleged numerous violations accompanying the polls.

Due to these allegations the ruling New Azerbaijan Party made a statement running that observers from the opposition parties were involved in the destructive activities aimed against the parliamentary elections. According to a statement posted on the official website of the ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan(YAP),  "Opposition party observers, candidates and authorized representatives tried to destabilize the electoral process by disseminating false information concerning the "infringements" and providing international observers with false information instead of focusing on the observation of the elections".

According to the statement, the voting process was carefully monitored by YAP observers. Activities of the oppositionist observers (e.g. those from the electoral bloc Musavat), covered a small number of polling stations, especially in the districts outside the capital. There are over 5,000 polling stations in the country, but only two thousand opposition observers.

The majority of observers characterized the electoral process positively and have not detected any serious violations that could substantially influence the elections and the voting results.
