Will Republican Armenia become a flourishing country?

The results of the parliamentary elections depends on supply of bread and potatoes .

An unprejudiced analysis of the current situation in the political life of Armenia shows that in the coming parliamentary elections in spring 2012, the ruling Republican party, representing the interests of bureaucracy and big enterprise, will not compete with the radical "Armenian National Congress", but with the political party "Flourishing Armenia".

According to recent polls, "Flourishing Armenia" will take 26% of the votes, while the ruling Republican party will attract only 21%. At the same time, the incumbent president of the country, Serzh Sargsyan, has an approval rating of 28% and the leader of "Flourishing Armenia", Gagik Tsarukyan, is supported by only 10% of Armenian voters. 5% of the Armenian electorate are ready to vote for the former president of the country, Robert Kocharyan.

The peculiarity of the coming campaign is that the main protagonists have an almost identical ideology. It would be even better to say that neither party has any ideology at all. The parties are simply criticizing each other in order to win votes. For instance, "Flourishing Armenia" criticizes the way President Sargsyan behaved during the OSCE summit in Astana.

The political rivalry between the parties continues and it's obvious that the results of the elections depend, not on their programs or ideology, but on the availability of bread and potatoes to the people.
