International Friendship Club recreated in North Ossetia

The head of the Republic of North Ossetia instructs republic's minister of education to re-establish international friendship clubs at all educational institutions in North Ossetia.

Last year's riots of nationalists and Caucasian youth in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don have caused tensions in Ossetian society. What should be done to prevent events of such a kind? Who is inciting the young people to ethnic hatred? Public figures, politicians and experts of North Ossetia answered VK's questions relating to the problem of nationalistic sentiments.

Political scientist, academician Alex Zoloyty: After the riots in Moscow, many Russian religious, political and public figures accused our young people of all the sins, without analyzing the causes of aggression and not offering anything to solve this dangerous problem of all the Russian people. According to the Russian Interior Ministry, the majority of children who participated in the riots were from so-called socially-disadvantaged families. Children in such families, both in Russian and in the Caucasus, are at social risk and most vulnerable to bad influence.

Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Development of North Ossetia, Jeanna Gasiyeva: We must realize that prevention of child neglect, with all its consequences, requires more than a single intervention, and deep consistent efforts by all interested departments and agencies. The main cause of child neglect is adults.

In North Ossetia, street children are engaged in the community of the Republican center for social rehabilitation of youth "Good Heart", established under the Ministry of Labour and Social Development.

Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Vyacheslav Petrischev: I have long lived in the North Caucasus and I am well acquainted with the lifestyles and customs of these peoples. These customs and traditions do not allow society to have disadvantaged children. But, unfortunately, times are now different and a lot of children from those regions are in need of rehabilitation.

Journalist, expert on ethnic relations Hassan Maliyev: Unrest in Moscow and other cities is just a small part of the large-scale extremist activities directed by international globalists seeking world domination. Unfortunately, youth is easily influenced by provocateurs, controlled by the Russian “fifth column.”

Following the riots on Manezhnaya Square, Taimuraz Mamsurov, at a meeting with rectors of higher educational institutions, suggested settling students of different nationalities in the same rooms in the dormitories. This practice existed before 1990. Mamsurov instructed the Minister of Education to re-establish international friendship clubs at all educational institutions in North Ossetia.
