Yevkurov taught the youth

In late December, in the Moscow Financial-Industrial University "Synergy" the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, met with students. He should make a master class. It was assumed that dealing with future lawyers, economists, managers, designers, financiers and psychologists the Ingush leader will share experiences and remember how he rose to the head of the republic, talk about the international camp in the Caucasus, which the Committee on Youth Affairs of Ingushetia will organize together with University "Synergy" in the near future.

However, Yevkurov preferred to concentrate on the theme of patriotic education of the youth. “Today the theme of patriotism, the theme of the history of our people, the people of Russia as a whole, I mean, is touched upon at the very top. Even the president of our country in his address focused a large bloc of questions on ethnic education, the ethnicity question, the national ideology, patriotic education, youth and youth policy. This is all indirectly related to one theme: knowledge of the history of our ancestors, our people and our homeland. One of the cases is December 9, when the country celebrates Day of the Heroes of the Fatherland. This has been a holiday since Czarist times. After the revolution this celebration was forgotten. But there were other holidays, no less important, which glorified the heroes and general combat, military and labor feats of our citizens. In 2007, we again recalled the holidays, and the country is celebrating this holiday. St George's Hall in the Kremlin was built for this holiday. Why do they call it so? People were awarded George ribbons there. These people were invited there. For each, there was a telegram signed by the Tsar, which refers to the fact that your son, your brother ... it was all competently explained. And celebrating this day, we remember the heroes of all wars, the Russo-Turkish War, the Russo-Japanese War, all the wars, of course, the Great Patriotic War and Afghanistan, all the activities in which people actually risked their lives, not thinking entirely about how to stay alive, or to receive an award, doing their duty.

This can occur anywhere, to any of us. I'll just give an example: in our country there are moments when hoodlums use weapons. And recently a child impulsively protected a second child, her younger brother, a girl in the 7th grade, when the fighting began, there was an attempt, and she just hid her younger brother and protected him. This was her consciousness. She was not prepared for this, she did not know that this would happen. But she was injured; thank God, she has recovered, she is now at home, but she protected him.

There are good words, they are historically known, that anyone can achieve a feat in his life. This does not mean that we have to go looking for three tanks, one grenade and perform a feat. If you do not accompany an old woman across the road, you will not help a man get out from a burning building. This is quite important. This is exactly in your mind, because everything comes from small to large”.

According to him, “in Ingushetia, as well as in the Caucasus as a whole, one of the forms of communication or education, as I remember from my youth, is communication with seniors. General education is received not just in the classroom, but in life. For example, it is accepted that the elderly during holidays and events are served by youngsters. The young are not allowed to sit in their presence, they have no right to lean against a wall, for example. They are modest, they serve them, look after them, help them, listen to the conversations of seniors and absorb all of this. It is clear that no senior will talk about something rebellious, selfish or not educating the young man. Of course, their themes bring to the young man's mind traditions, customs and the way of life of the people. He absorbs this with his mother's milk. Young people get 80 percent of their education at such events. In the end, the elder always discusses something, and all the youth come and listen to what the elder says. This is a fairly serious issue. The guys from the Caucasus are well aware of what I'm talking about. This communication is a commonplace, ordinary conversation, usual things that happen in any nation and become the foundation of the education of young people in the spirit of the people.

The same is true for the girls. They have their own subjects, and they talk to older women. One of the important instruments of education of a young man is his mother. There are men in the Caucasus saying "I am the master of the house". But again, a man is raised by his mother, a woman. The father always goes either hunting, or prey, or goes to work to earn money, somewhere else. A mother is always with the kids. The mother raises the child. The mother plants in the mind of the child respect and love for his father, his street, his home and his people. This is a very important topic. This is one of the indicators of how we, at home, not only in Ingushetia, but also in the Caucasus in general, favor our mothers. There is a saying that mother is everything”.

“A patriot is not one who draws more attention to himself”, Yevkurov says. “Yes, there are those that at a football game without any reason break chairs, throw them at someone. They are not patriots. There are those who hear "Look out! They beat us!” and utterly without understanding commit insane acts. This is not patriotism, it's not a feat, it is nonsense. There are those that come in the wake of a stronger person and perform again unworthy actions, which they then regret. This is also not a feat, it is nonsense. And there are those who are quiet and peaceful, just doing their job for the benefit of themselves. If you are keen on sports, and there are no bars, no children's corner, there is no site, and the power has no possibilities, do something yourself, and children will have something to do. This is a feat, these are the Patriots.

I was in 2010 in Strasbourg and, speaking to the European Parliament, spoke about the situation to protect our interests, talked about it. Someone understood me and someone did not understand.  And when reporters asked me who I was by birth, I said "Russian". They asked for a second time, a third, each asked in French, Dutch. I said that I was Russian. They corrected me. But I said what I had in mind. In the Caucasus, I am Ingush, in Moscow, outside the Caucasus, I am Caucasian, and outside Russia I am Russian, because we are all so called. If I do something bad abroad, they will not say about the Ingush, they will say «Russian». If I do a great job out of the country, again, they do not say "Ingush" but "Russian". It would seem that post-Soviet era has passed, but the Georgians, Armenians and Azerbaijanis, and people from the Baltic states, and Kazakhs are still called Russians. These are the things that form your personality, and what is the meaning of these words? Any Caucasian, going outside their republic, should first think not about himself, but of the people which he represents. If he is self-discipline for the good, normal, nice action, and these are the things put in his head as a child, the same pattern will be with any Russian citizen, whether from Khabarovsk, whether from Chukotka, or from the Caucasus, being outside he will not think of himself but of a great country, the culture of the great country.

There is a saying: If someone says something bad behind your back about you, then you are ahead. This is a formula, it is well known, of course. Not always this may be well to lean forward. This also should be known – in ethics, according to our customs, in the Caucasus, and not only in the Caucasus. For some reason we, when we talk about the Caucasus, forget about the Slavs. There are good old customs. When I ask the question, when the tradition of large families appeared in the Caucasus, I say, we took it from the Slavs. Think of serfdom, remember our great generals of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War and the name of at least one who had fewer than five children. Everyone had 12-13, even 18 children, even in the most difficult times, when there was serfdom in Russia, these were huge families. I also say this. Therefore, the tradition was in all nations, and even more stringent than in the Caucasus. If we begin to remember the history, there are quite serious, good, patriotic customs and traditions of all nations.

Look who speaks badly about our country, our own citizens, and in the republics there are such people. See their biography, they have not planted a tree, have not raised the wrapper, have not accompanied an old woman across the road, in the life of the society he did not do anything useful, but loudly, violently, stomping their feet, he talks about his homeland. It is necessary, especially to you, young people, to try to understand the meaning: who says this? Here again, there is a famous saying "Who are the judges? '. I would ask to understand that such things are a betrayal of the traditions, customs, ancestors, the deeds of our fathers, who built our country. Of course, all these things, actions lead to the substitution of our history, our traditions, customs, and the substitution of general overall system. Here we have to think very seriously, when we listen to the people who tell something bad about their country, their customs, their traditions, these are unfortunately, lots of people today, including among you, young people, in your circle. Sometimes, when you come to the blogs, internet, look and read – you see colossal bad manners. But you are happy when it appears that there is the one who writes with a sense of duty and responsibility. This means that the land has enough patriots of their country, their homeland.
