In the Circassian (Chechen) village of Abu Ghosh close to Jerusalem the construction of grand mosque began; in its size the mosque will be comparable to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. As it turned out, the construction is carried out using the means of and on the initiative of President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
As VK has already reported, the rapprochement between the residents of Abu Ghosh and Chechnya began several years ago, when it was suddenly found out that the people of this village, contrary to popular opinion, are descendants not of the Circassians but of the Chechens. Since then, Abu Ghosh was often visited by representatives of the Chechen Republic, and the delegation of Abu Ghosh, in turn, visited their homeland.
In 2012, the municipal council of the village named one of its streets with the name of former Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov, who was killed in 2004 in Grozny. The future mosque will also be named after him.
Preparatory work for the construction of mosques has already been completed. Israeli media have agreed that this is a construction of the largest religious building from the foundation of the state. "If the Russian oligarchs strike us by the size of their houses, the leader of Chechnya, it seems, decided to surprise Israel by the force of his faith and the willingness to help his compatriots who have long wanted to build a new mosque in Abu Ghosh but did not have sufficient funds for it. It is possible that a future grand mosque will become a tourist attraction", the Israeli media report.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that there are enough tourists in Abu Ghosh even without it: the village is famous throughout Israel for its hummus and restaurants that attract gourmets from all over the country.
