In Moscow, for the second time the Muslim meeting was held. It was devoted to a highly relevant subject for the Russian society, for a multi-national and multi-religious country - "Muslims of Russia and the civil society."
Speaking at the meeting, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia, said that everyone understands that “we need civil peace, inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony. Without peace and harmony between peoples and religions, there can be no development of the state, no peace in the country. Those historical traditions, which were laid by our fathers and grandfathers, many centuries ago, today they give us the right to say that we are the indigenous citizens of our country, that we have always lived in peace and harmony, together we build our future, and today we should also think about the future generations, the future of our country. You will hear speeches and reports by the participants of the meeting, who will talk about the traditions that were laid, about the vision of Muslims on how we should live.
We are engaged in very serious preparations to establish the Council of Muftis of the CIS countries. All parties who wish to participate in the activities of the CIS Council of Muftis studied the documents, which have been prepared by the Council of Muftis of Russia, and given to the Spiritual Board of Muslims of CIS countries, they received approval and suggestions. Now we are thinking about what working structures should be established within the Council of Muftis of CIS, and in which capitals, which countries should host the working bodies. So we do not rush things, all our actions develop as they were planned in their own time.
There is a need now for the construction of mosques in the following regions: Primorye, Vladivostok, Krasnodar Territory, Sochi, the Tambov region, Tambov city, and certainly in the central regions of the Russian Federation, where Muslim religious organizations have been operating for many years, asking for many years for the allocation of land, but, unfortunately, they have not found the understanding of the authorities”.
