A press conference given by the father of Ibragim Todashev took place in Moscow. Human rights activists and the relative of Ibragim Todashev told about recent developments that have happened in the US and the further development of the situation.
According to Maxim Shevchenko, “Ibragim Todashev was killed in Orlando during an interrogation. According to evidence which Abdulbaki has and which he will present to you, the seventh shot was made to his son’s head. The FBI says that he supposedly wanted to attack an agent, though there were five agents,” the expert noted.
Abdulbaki Todashev is waiting for permission to get a visa from the American government to go to the US and take his son’s body. The federal authorities of the US don’t consider his killed son a terrorist, so his body is in a mortuary. Along with this fact, searches and questioning of Chechen people who have resident permits and other forms of green cards took place. It means systemic harassment of Chechens, RF citizens who live on US territory.
Abdulaki Todashev told his son’s story at the press conference who left for the US in 2008. “He studied at the Chechen State University, and in the 4th year of university he decided to go to America for academic work. He studied English. I wasn’t against it. He applied for documents and left Russia under a program of student exchange between the USA and Russia. Three-four months later he called me and said: “Father, I want to stay here.” I agreed with that. In Chechnya the situation was unstable at that time; I thought in two years he would return. But he didn’t. As for these events… It appeared he knew the Tsarnayev brothers, as he attended the same boxing classes when he lived in Boston. That was two years ago. He moved from Boston to Florida. They began to ask him whether he was in contact with them or not. He said he had been interrogated twice. Then, he was told to come at a certain time. He told me he had a ticket home on May 24th. His friend Husein Taramov, who was near him on the day of murder, said that Ibragim was called by the FBI to come to them. He said probably he got tired of interrogations and said: “I am at home, it would be better to come to my place.” Supposedly this talk happened. They came to his place and took them in different rooms. Husein was apparently questioned outside, Ibragim was interrogated at home. Husein Taramov had been interrogated for four hours and then they set him free. He said: “I will wait for my friend who is inside, Ibragim.” They said: “There’s no need to wait for him here.” i.e. they sent him away. They were like: “We will interrogate Ibragim for a long time, maybe three hours more.” There was a café nearby where guys were hanging out. “Wait in the café, we will bring him or he will come alone.” He said: “I had nothing to do with it and left. Two, three hours passed. I called Ibragim. He didn’t pick up the phone. I was worried and returned. When I came back several streets were cordoned off, many police cars and an emergency car were there. Of course, I wasn’t let in.” When I look at the pictures, I can say I have thought only in movies are people shot dead and a finishing shot is carried out. Six shots were to his body and one to his head,” the father of killed Ibragim Todashev concluded.
Maxom Shevchenko drew attention to fact that the shot to the head was to the back of the head: “Not to his forehead, as if he had attacked them, but to the back of his head.”
