Georgian wrestlers earn only two bronze medals

Georgia failed at the free-style and Greco-Roman wrestling
championship in Moscow. For a country with Olympic medals, European
Championship medals and other achievements, two bronze medals cannot
be considered a good result.

The problems started with the best Georgian wrestler of 2009, the
owner of a silver medal of the European Championship in Greco-Roman
wrestling Manuchar Tskhaday (66 kg), who lost at the very beginning.
Soso Jabidze (96 kg) and Lasha Gogitadze (55 kg) lost as well. Revaz
Lashkhi (60 kg), Vladimir Gegeshidze (84 kg) and Guram Perselidze (120
kg) lost in the second round. Leader of the National Team, Manuchar
Kvirkvelia (74 kg) lost in the quarter final.

the country's free-style wrestlers were not successful either. Besik
Guchashvili (55 kg) lost in the second round, Georgiy Gogshelidze (96
kg) won a bronze medal. A new heavy weight wrestler Levan Berianidze
managed to win four out of five rounds, taking third place.

The Georgia Minister of Culture and Sport Vladimir Vardzelashvili said
that he will start 'blamestorming' as soon as the National Team
returns. Traditionally, the people responsible for the results of
championships are the people who train sportsmen.

At the same time, where Georgia participated in the World Championship
of Judo, the coaches made a bad mistake, when they forgot to warn
their Olympic Champion Irakliy Tsirekidze about the time of his
performance, the judges considered it a technical defeat. This story,
which stirred up the public obviously affected the moral condition of
all sportsmen and their performance in Moscow. Georgian journalists
have already called the championship in Tokyo 'absolutely medal-less'.
