The web-site for football fans landskrona.ru published an appeal in the form of a bill of complaint. The reason is the breaking of a treaty between Zenit and Spartak fans signed 30 years ago. The judge is President of pan-Russian Fan Union Alexander Shprygin, "Soviet Sport" reported.
Fans of the St. Petersburg club demand Spartak fans confess and apologize to Zenit fans for numerous attacks against them. However, Spartak's fans don't want to. As a result, relations between the fan groups will become worse. The controversy began in 1997 after a well-known fight. September 30, 1997 before the game between Spartak and Zenit started, Spartak's fans had attacked the fan group from St. Petersburg right behind the entrance of Lokomotiv stadium. 30 people were injured.
In recent years there were several major clashes between the fan groups. According to some reports even English "colleagues" of Russian football hooligans participated in one of fights.
