Alexander Iskanderyan: Armenia has no right to demand recognition of Karabakh

Even if Armenia recognized the independence of Karabakh, it wouldn't
change the situation for the better. The recognition of the Republic
of Nagorno-Karabakh by Armenia doesn't mean automatic recognition by
the entire international community, and Armenia has no right to demand
recognition of Karabakh by the USA, Russia, France or other
influential countries of the world.

There can be no discussion of the recognition of the independence of
Nagorno-Karabakh, as the talks have not yet finished. The official
position of Armenia can be announced only after this process is
finished. Official recognition of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh
could spoil relations with Armenia's partners so that the talks would
lead to nothing.

The present-day character of the organization of the Minsk Group of
the OSCE is evidently sufficient. The Minsk Group's successful work as
a mediator has proved that the participation of different countries in
the talks is fairly effective. This means that the current principle
of its work should be maintained.

Speaking about the recognition of Kosovo, it's necessary to mention
that Armenia is not ready to aggravate its relations with Russia,
which doesn't recognize the independent status of Kosovo. At the same
time, Armenia has strategic partners among the Western countries and
so it cannot recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
