China’s coal imports from Russia through the main border crossing point Zabaikalsk-Manzhouli climbed more than three times in first 40 days of this year, Russia’s Consulate-General in Harbin (the administrative center of Heilongjiang Province) reported.
Coal supplies soared 214% in the reporting period to over 438,000 tons, the diplomatic mission said, adding that China received a total of 6,200 cars with coal from Russia.
"Russian coal is used for production of electricity and head in the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and in the eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region [north China]," the mission added.
