Today, the representative of the ruling Justice and Development Party of Türkiye, Ömer Çelik, announced that negotiations were underway to expand the Republican Alliance, whose candidate in the country's upcoming general elections is the current president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

"While the opposition, the "People's Alliance", is fighting for the seats, our only agenda is the revival of cities after devastating earthquakes", Çelik said, RIA Novosti reported.

The talks are going very well and aim to remove the issue of elections from Türkiye's agenda as soon as possible, Çelik added.

In the upcoming elections, the opponent of the incumbent president and the "Republican Alliance" candidate Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be the single candidate of the opposition "People's Alliance", leader of the Republican People's Party Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

The results of pre-election polls show that the upcoming elections do not have a clear favorite. It is known that according to the decision of the Supreme Election Council of Türkiye, the elections will be held on May 14, the second round, if necessary, will be held on May 28.
