Europe was caught unprepared for the energy crisis, Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez said, stressing many European countries had to prefer liquefied natural gas to meet the demands.
But that increased the energy prices abnormally due to the lack of terminals and the fact that source countries could not meet all the demands, the minister added.
The crisis impacted Europe most, Fatih Dönmez said.
The European Union intends to create a mechanism that allows the countries of the union to block the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia without the need for additional sanctions.
In March, the EU Energy Commissioner has urged all EU member states not to sign new contracts for Russian liquefied natural gas.
