In February, prices for jewelry in Kazakhstan increased by more than 30% over the year. The price of engagement rings have risen the most.
Over the past year, the cost of golden and silver jewelry, as well as wristwatches in Kazakhstan rose by 33.2%, while a year earlier the price increase was 6.2%.
The increase in prices for wedding rings made of gold amounted to 35.6% for the year, a year earlier this figure was 5.7%. In some regions of Kazakhstan, the prices of wedding rings have skyrocketed. In the North Kazakhstan region the wedding rings became more expensive by 71.6%, in the Jetisu region – by 61.7%, in the Almaty region – by 60.1%.
At the moment, a gram of gold in Kazakhstan costs over 29,000 tenge (about $65).
Last year, 128,500 couples got married in Kazakhstan. According to official statistics, fewer divorces were registered in the country over the same period.
