Türkiye to increase funding for defense industry

The Turkish government plans to increase the total budget of defense industry enterprises to $75 billion, President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made such a statement on Monday.

The head of state recalled that more than two decades ago, when they came to the leadership of the country, the budget for defense projects was at the level of $5,5 billion. Now it exceeds $60 billion.

He stressed that the number of projects in the defense industry increased 12 times, from 62 to 750. The number of companies increased from 56 to 2,7 thousand over the same period.

The President also drew attention to the fact that the increase in funding would make it possible to make a breakthrough in all areas. Erdoğan added that Türkiye was preparing for potential combat conditions in the future by developing the defense industry
