Today, Azerbaijani border guards has taken control of the territory of four returned villages of the Gazakh region of Azerbaijan: Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Eskipara, Kheyrimli and Gyzylgajili. This message was published by the office of Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev.

It recalls that, according to the instructions of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, in order to liberate these villages from occupation, on April 19, the State Commission for the Delimitation of the State Border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia signed the protocol of the 8th meeting of the Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border and Security of the Border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

To implement the document, geodetic measurements were carried out on the ground in accordance with the coordinates of the border line. After clarification, a technical protocol was drawn up. It contains the results of joint field work, namely a protocol describing the passage of the border line.

The technical protocol was agreed on May 15 during the 9th meeting of the commissions on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. The parties also signed the corresponding protocol of the commissions.

Thus, based on the results of delimitation work, the border line was determined, the length of a certain section was 12.7 km. As a result, four villages of the Gazakh district of Azerbaijan were returned to Azerbaijan: Baganis Ayrym, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrymly and Gyzylgadzhily. Their total area is 6.5 sq km.

"Today, the territories of these villages have been taken under the control of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan",

the Deputy Prime Minister's office said.

For its part, the National Security Service of Armenia reported that today the Armenian border troops are officially taking over the protection of the border sections in the Tavush region. Armenian border guards are located in the following areas:
