Georgia breaks tourist flow record

Georgia broke its tourist flow record this year. Almost 1 million tourists visited the country, which is 40% more than the previous pre-pandemic record in 2019. Information about this was announced by the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also clarified that Georgia earned more than $800 million in tourism in the first quarter of 2024.

"In the first quarter, we received 1.3 million international visitors, including 939 thousand tourists",

Irakli Kobakhidze said.

The Prime Minister said that 50 airlines carried out flights from the republic to 38 destinations, which also affected the growth of tourist flow.

According to Kobakhidze, Georgia expects to welcome more than 5 million travelers this year and earn $4.5 billion from tourism.

According to the National Tourism Administration, the Prime Minister announced data for the first three months of 2024, since statistics for the fifth month would be calculated later.

It is reported that about a million tourists from Russia may come to Georgia within a year. Air traffic to the largest cities of the country is now carried out by several airlines. The summer schedule includes 400 flights from Russia to Georgia per week.
