According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Alexey Overchuk, relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are flourishing.

Speaking on June 25 at the Primakov Readings, he noted, in particular, that the countries are successfully interacting on the development of the North-South transport corridor and other projects today.

"We are witnessing a flourishing relationship with Azerbaijan. <...> We have a number of projects, very interesting, large ones, including the development of industry. We have jointly modernized our checkpoints. The work on the passage of vehicles is very efficient, there are no delays at the border",

the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government said.

He drew attention to the fact that the South Caucasus republic positioned itself as a transit country, which was economically very beneficial to the Russian Federation.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that the policy pursued by the leadership of Azerbaijan allowed Russia to develop export flows and improve conditions for their advancement in the direction of the countries of the Global South.

"Iran, where today we are engaged in the construction of the missing 168-kilometer section of the Rasht-Astara railway and access to the Iranian ports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar. Then we have access to Libya and [other] Arab countries and African countries. These are the same global expanding markets that we need for our development today",

the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation said.

Let us remind you that in May the Deputy Chairman of the Russian government said that Moscow intended to seek access to the growing markets of the Global South.
