12th-century Albanian-Udi Church opens in Gabala

The Albanian Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (12th century) was opened in Azerbaijani Gabala after restoration. The head of the Albano-Udi Christian religious community Robert Mobili took part in the opening ceremony, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reports.

"Today, the historical truth is being restored. This Albanian-Udi church, the foundation of which was laid in the 12th century, was transferred to the subordination of Armenians. The church was exerted in 1836, the Albanian Apostolic Church was abolished, its material and spiritual heritage under the influence of the Armenian Gregorian Church was Armenianized, documents, archival materials, plaques were replaced and forged. Now the historical truth of Udi people is being restored, "he said.
