3.6-magnitude earthquake hits Georgian city

According to the website of the Georgian Seismic Monitoring Center, a small earthquake has occurred in Georgia today.

The earthquake's epicenter was in Racha. It happened near the village of Badzhikhevi, the distance from which to the city of Oni is about 6 km.

The magnitude of the earthquake reached 3.6. Its hypocenter was at a depth of 5 km.

There is no information about injuries or deaths, as well as possible property damage.

Let us remind you that Racha is a historical region in the mountains in the northwestern part of Georgia, on the territory of the region of Racha-Lechkhumi - Kvemo Svaneti. In 1991, the most powerful earthquake in the history of Georgia occurred in Racha (as well as in Imereti). The earthquake's magnitude was 7. About 200 people became victims.
