The Russian Central Electoral Commission announced today the final results of the elections to the State Duma of the seventh convocation: the new composition of the lower house of the Parliament includes four parties of the previous convocation - the United Russia party, the Communist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the party 'A Fair Russia', as well as new the 'Rodina' party and the 'Civic Platform' party. One mandate goes to a self-nominated candidate.
The United Russia gets 343 seats, the Communist Party gets 42, the Liberal Democrat Party – 39, A Fair Russia – 23, Rodina and Civic Platform – one each.
The victory of the United Russia's single-mandate deputies in 203 districts out of 225 allowed the party to achieve a record representation in Parliament. The candidates of the Communist Party and 'A Fair Russia' won in seven districts, the Liberal Democratic Party in five. Three seats went to single-mandate deputies of Rodina, the Civic Platform and one to a self-nominated candidate.
In total, the CEC expected 110, 061, 200 voters, but only 52, 700, 992 citizens of Russia used their right to vote, thus, the final turnout was 47.88%. 809,157 people voted by absentee ballots.
