ADB may grow bank’s portfolio in Georgia

Georgia’s Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze met with the President of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao at the 51st Annual Meeting of ADB in Manila, the Philippines.

"We had a very fruitful meeting with the President of Asian Development Bank. ADB is one of the largest donor organisations for our economy. About $250 million is invested annually in the infrastructure of Georgia through the bank. We have discussed the possibility of growing the ADB portfolio in Georgia in order to enable the funding of more infrastructure projects in the country,” Bakhtadze said.

"We welcome the fact that the Asian Development Bank participates in other reforms of Georgia, including capital market development reform, pension and education reform," Agenda.ge cited him as saying.

As of today, the amount of funding allocated by ADB to Georgia is estimated at $2.4 billion.
