AZAL and Vnukovo make Moscow and Baku closer

Today, an agreement to increase the number of regular flights Baku-Moscow to 2 per day was signed at the Moscow Vnukovo Airport. The agreement was signed between Vnukovo Airport CEO Vasily Alexandrov and the Vice-President of AZAL Eldar Hajiyev, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reports.

Daily flights to Moscow will begin in March 2017. The departure from Baku is at 08:00 am  and 16:30 pm, arrival time - 10:10 am and 18:40 pm (Moscow time). Departure from Moscow is at 11:10 am and 19:40 pm, arrival in Baku at 15:00 pm and 23:30 pm (Baku time). The flights will be operated by AZALJET using Airbus A319s.

Eldar Hajiyev said at the press conference that AZAL and Vnukovo Airport have "grand plans". According to him, two daily flights will significantly increase the Moscow-Baku-Moscow passenger traffic . "As you know, today Azerbaijan is quite an interesting tourist destination, including for Russians. First, it is very close. Second, you do not need any visa to visit it. And third, the weather is great year-round and there are many places to have a rest," he said.

The increase in the tourist flow to Azerbaijan encouraged AZAL to take the initiative to increase the number of flights to Russia and back. "We are grateful to the leadership and the founders of the Vnukovo Airport for the comfortable conditions. I invite everyone to visit Azerbaijan." Eldar Hajiyev concluded.

Answering the question of Vestnik Kavkaza about the prospects of AZAL cooperation with Russian regions, including Astrakhan, the vice-president of the company said that other new flights to Russia are not planned in the next year, but they will be introduced in the longer term. "In Russia, we have plans for Volgograd and Astrakhan, as well as the Far East in the framework of our program of Azerbaijan Airlines flights until 2021," he noted.

Vasily Alexandrov, in turn, stressed that AZAL's return is very important for Vnukovo. "We have done a lot to ensure that the airline wished to operate here again. We are very sensitive to the airlines' needs and ready to gladly accept suggestions and address shortcomings. The main thing for both the company and the airport is a comfortable stay of passengers," Vnukovo Airport CEO said.

"Azerbaijan is a populous country with great cultural traditions. I am sure that our cooperation with AZAL will be successful and fruitful, we will do everything to make both ordinary passengers and VIP-clients feel comfortable at our airport," Vasily Alexandrov concluded.

AZALJET also carries out flights to St. Petersburg, Kazan and Mineralnye Vody, as well as a regular flight Ganja-St. Petersburg.
