Abdulatipov: police say explosion in Derbent is not terrorist attack

Police do not qualify the explosion near the Dzhemikentsky post in the Derbent region as a terrorist act, the head of the Republic of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulatipov, said.

"Law enforcement agencies do not qualify the crime as a terrorist act, because there are no political demands or statements," Yuga.ru cited him as saying.

"It is clear that this crime was directed against the police officers who were on duty at the post. But it is a tragedy in any case," the head of the region stressed.

Recall, the Daesh terrorist group, which is forbidden in Russia, has taken responsibility for the explosion. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee has confirmed this version as well.
