The Congress of the largest state of the US – Alaska – has adopted an official declaration expressing strong support for Azerbaijan.
The document, sent to the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, was unanimously adopted by both the Senate and House of Representatives of the Congress of Alaska.
The document, which is written by a majority of members of Congress and was signed by the Chairman of the Senate Kevin Mayer and the House of Representatives Speaker Mike Chenault, notes that Azerbaijan is one of the fastest growing and most modernizing countries in the world, which has the strongest economy in the region and is the largest trading partner of the US in the South Caucasus.
The declaration says that for the past 25 years Azerbaijan and the United States have developed partnership in the field of energy security, as well as the fight against international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking and the spread of weapons of mass destruction. It also noted the important contribution of Azerbaijan to the energy security of the US, Europe and Israel, in this context, it stressed the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor project, AzerTAj reports.
