Alexander Grushko: A safe Europe won’t be built without Russia

The Permanent Representative of Russia to NATO, Alexander Grushko, has said at the Munich Conference on Security Policy that it is impossible to create an effective safety system in Europe without the Russian Federation.

"Neither the EU nor NATO will be able to protect themselves without cooperating with all the participants. Today’s real problems such as a migration and terrorism require cooperation from NATO, as well as cooperation with Russia, because Russia won’t achieve any concrete goals in real security,’’ Alexander Grushko said.

The Permanent Representative drew attention to the fact that NATO accuses Russia without grounds of creating various aggressive plans in relation to the Baltic States. "My question is very simple: when will NATO cease to stoke the vision that Russia will attack the Baltic countries, Poland and so on? When will you realize that there is no real threat? This is not a real agenda for security," he said.

Grushko recalled that in any case Russia does not intend to enter into a confrontation with NATO, because it is contrary to its own interests. "But at the same time, people need to understand that we will assess the military planning and we will take all the necessary measures to protect our security, using military equipment," the permanent representative of Russia to NATO warned.
