Alexander Ovechkin: I really liked being in Baku

At the beginning of July a hockey match was held in Baku between the government's teams of Russia and Azerbaijan. The meeting ended with the host’s victory with a score of 6:2.

One of the members of the team was the famous Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin. He shared with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza his impressions of the trip to the capital of Azerbaijan.

The athlete complained that he could not fully explore the city, which made the best impression on him. "I really liked it. A beautiful city. Unfortunately, we had very little time for sightseeing. We won the matches," he said.

At the same time, the hockey player will have an opportunity to partially fill the gap in the near future. "Soon we will have a return match with the team in Baku. We arrive there, in my opinion, in early September, and we will act and fight there,’’ Ovechkin promised.

The hockey player added that he will be happy to visit the capital of Azerbaijan again.

He also praised the First European Games, held in Baku in June. "Any games are a very good thing, because they provide an excellent opportunity to raise the spirit of fans, and athletes prepare for these competitions. I take it positively," Alexander Ovechkin concluded.
