The funeral of the chairman of the Islamic Committee of Russia, Heydar Jemal, took place today in Almaty.
A public ceremony of paying last respects to Jemal was held this morning in the Almaty Central Mosque.
The head of the Muslim Spiritual Administration of Kazakhstan, who performed Ṣalat al-Janazah, said that Heydar Jemal's wish was to be buried in the city he died in.
