The indicted head of Amnesty International in Turkey, Taner Kilic, has denied alleged membership of the "terrorist" group blamed for the July 2016 coup attempt, BBC reports.
Kilic was speaking at the opening of his trial in Izmir, western Turkey.
He has been in custody since June, accused of links to Fethullah Gulen, the US-based Muslim cleric seen by President Erdogan as a subversive traitor.
Eight other human rights activists were released on bail on Wednesday.
Kilic is also a defendant in that separate case, in which activists face similar terrorism charges.
