Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that his country is ready for a new military operation in Syria.
"Our president said that the operation would be launched unexpectedly one night. Indeed, this is a tactical and strategic issue, the necessary consultations are being carried out on it. Based on the need to protect our legitimate rights and interests, the necessary plans have been prepared, and appropriate work has been carried out", RIA Novosti quoted him.
He also noted that at the last NATO summit in Madrid, no one tried to persuade Turkey to cancel or postpone the operation in Syria.
"We have done everything necessary to ensure the security of Turkey, to ensure the security of our lands, under the leadership of our president, and we are determined to do it in the future, thank God, we can do it", RIA Novosti quoted him.
Earlier, Turkish presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın said that Ankara could launch a new military operation in northern Syria at any moment.
