Armenia asks Russia for help

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in connection with the appeal of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.

Pashinyan asked Russia to help ensure Armenia’s security against the background of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The department reaffirmed Russia's adherence to allied obligations towards Armenia, "including those arising from the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia dated August 29, 1997," TASS informs.

"In accordance with the Treaty, Russia will provide Yerevan with all the necessary assistance if the clashes are transferred directly to the territory of Armenia," the ministry said.
