Armenia on Saturday was given the status of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Dialogue Partner.
SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov and Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian signed the respective declaration at the organization’s headquarters in Beijing, the capital city of China.
Nalbandian said the signing of this declaration will pave a legal basis to put Armenia-SCO cooperation on qualitatively new foundations.
And Alimov noted that thanks to the SCO Dialogue Partner status, Armenia will be able to actively get involved in the comprehensive activities of this organization, reported TASS news agency of Russia.
SCI is a Eurasian political, economic and military organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai, China.
The position of Dialogue Partner was created in 2008 in accordance with Article 14 of the SCO Charter of June 7, 2002. This article regards Dialogue Partner as a state or an organization who shares the goals and principles of the SCO, and wishes to establish relations of equal mutually beneficial partnership with the Organisation.
