The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that the republic recognized the State of Palestine. The communiqué emphasized that Yerevan was interested in the speedy normalization of the situation in the Middle East.
"... confirming its commitment to international law and the principles of equality, sovereignty and peaceful coexistence of peoples, the Republic of Armenia recognizes the State of Palestine",
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia said.
It is also noted that the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict must be carried out on the basis of the existence of two states. The Ministry expressed confidence that this was the only way for peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine.
