Armenia's Ministry of Health said today it has removed the age threshold for people to get vaccinated with Russian Covid-19 Sputnik V vaccines.
"Starting July 1, both people in risk groups and persons aged 18 and older can be vaccinated with Sputnik V vaccine," the ministry said, adding that vaccination in the country is not mandatory.
Until today Sputnik V vaccines were for people at risk: medical workers aged 18 to 54, chronic patients aged 18 to 54, residents of social care centers aged 18 to 54.
Vaccination is free of charge in clinics on all days of the week. There are also mobile vaccination points deployed in public places in Yerevan - on Northern Avenue, in the shopping centers Dalma Garden Mall and Megamall, also in Gyumri on Vardanants Square, in Vanadzor on Hayk Square and in Dilijan next to the mayor's office. Foreign citizens living in Armenia can also be vaccinated.
Armenian health authorities are using three types of vaccines: Sputnik-V (Russia), AstraZeneca (Britain) and CoronaVac/Sinovac (China). The government’s objective is to have between 600,000 and 700,000 people vaccinated within a year.
