90 Armenian families have decided to move to Armenia from the Talish village, located on the Azerbaijani territory, occupied by Armenian forces, the coordinator of the community of the village Slava Bayunts said.
"Nobody took any steps to solve social and domestic needs of the Talish residents. We needed shelters, benefits, we need to move our retirement funds to Armenia and find jobs. They left all their property, many of which was mortgaged to the bank for a loan for the spring planting season,’’ the coordinator of the village Bayunts said, as cited by Baku.ws with reference to Lragir.am.
Now 12 families live with their relatives in Yerevan, the other live in different areas: ‘‘they are ready to live anywhere where they can find shelter," Bayunts said, adding that a letter was sent to the government to solve their problems.
The Community Coordinator also noted that after the ceasefire resumed 370 Armenians moved from Talish.
Recall, on the night of April 2 all frontier positions of Azerbaijan were exposed to heavy fire from large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenade launchers and guns. In addition, Azerbaijani settlements near the front line, densely populated by civilians, were shelled.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20% of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US, are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
