Armenian opposition started blocking streets, demanding PM to resign

Armenian opposition forces initiated large-scale protest actions early on Monday, blocking central streets in Yerevan with the call for resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Local information web portals are broadcasting protest actions in real time.

Special forces of the Armenian police started detaining opposition supporters. Clashes with police occur in different places across the city. About 15 streets and avenues in the Armenian capital remain blocked so far and traffic jams are present all over the city.

Ishkhan Saghatelyan, deputy speaker of the parliament from Hayastan alliance, said yesterday that large-scale peaceful acts of disobedience will begin May 2 morning at 8:30 a.m.
