Over the last few hours, up to 170 soldiers and 12 armored vehicles of the Armenian side were neutralized by retaliatory strikes of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan reported.
"As a result of proactive measures of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and accurately inflicted fire strikes, the Armenian soldiers suffer heavy losses, they are leaving their positions, dropping their weapons and ammunition. The enemy is retreating in panic," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reports.
The Azerbaijani Armed Forces are carrying out fortification works and measures on visual exploration of the territory and adjustment of strikes at strategically advantageous and favorable positions that have fallen under their control.
At the same time, the Armenian Armed Forces continue to attack civilian objects of Azerbaijan. For example, one of the shells landed on a mosque in the village Ahmadagali in the Agdamsky district. It is known that 65-year-old Garash Dadashev became a victim of the attack by Armenians, he died from his injuries near the mosque.
The head of the executive authority of the Agdamsky district Ragub Mamedov reported that the villages of Khindiristan, Garadagli and Uchoglan were also attacked. "Houses were not damaged. Shells landed on fields. Fortunately, there are no human victims or wounded, but sowing areas were damaged," he noted.
This past day and night, as a result of violations of the ceasefire regime, three Azerbaijani soldiers have died.
Recall, on the night of April 2 all frontier positions of Azerbaijan were exposed to heavy fire from large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenade launchers and guns. In addition, Azerbaijani settlements near the front line, densely populated by civilians, were shelled.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20% of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
