Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, delivering a speech at a plenary session of the Azerbaijani parliament, promised to adhere to moral values in developing the republic.
The first vice-president said that in connection with the appointment to a new post, she will stop her activity in the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.
“I was a member of the parliament for more than ten years. It was great honor for me to be a member of parliament during these years,” Mehriban Aliyeva.
“Dear colleagues, I’ve seen a working atmosphere dominating here for the whole period I’ve been acting as an MP,” APA cited her as saying.
Mehriban Aliyeva said that she came up with numerous proposals and initiatives during her membership of parliament.
She praised the great role of the Milli Majlis members in formation of Azerbaijan as an authoritative state during the years of independence. She pointed out that a total of 39,887 prisoners have been released thanks to the application of the amnesty acts, proposed in 2007, 2009, 2013, and 2016.
“I would like to express my gratitude to each one of those MPs who supported the amnesty acts which freed tens of thousands of prisoners. I hope that such initiatives will continue to be put forward by our MPs and turn into a tradition,” the first-vice president stressed.
