Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said he had informed Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the outcome of his earlier talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
"Upon my return from Moscow, I informed today [on April 12] Ukrainian President Zelensky by phone, the US ambassador to Vienna and [Austrian] Federal President [Alexander] Van der Bellen personally about the contents of my conversation with President Putin," Nehammer wrote on Twitter.
On April 11, Nehammer became the first head of an EU government to hold personal talks with the Russian leader since the launch of the special military operation in Ukraine. Prior to that, the Austrian chancellor met with Zelensky in Kiev.
After the meeting, Nehammer said he had conveyed Zelensky’s proposal to meet in person to the Russian president, but "no significant reaction followed."
