According to the head of the city committee on youth affairs, Irina Alekseeva, the Maikop authorities have denied information that the 'Lilac of Victory' alley, established under the same name by the all-Russian action on Victory Boulevard, will be cut down due to construction of a playground.
"Lilacs were planted along the boulevard, and the playground will be constructed in the middle. So the lilac avenue will remain. Nobody even thought of destroying it,’’ UGA cites her as saying.
The official explained that it was necessary to dig up 10 trees that didn’t strike their roots. But they will be replaced by new plants.
