According to the report of the Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for North Ossetia, the Transcaucasian highway cannot be cleared due to avalanches regularly descending on the route.
“Due to the continuing avalanche danger, the works to clear the road has been suspended. The snowfall is expected to increase, ” the Ossetian rescuers explained, adding that for the moment, there is a zero visibility in the area of the roadworks.
