Azerbaijan and Armenia have expressed a desire to obtain SCO observer status. The National Coordinator of Iran spoke about this at the SCO Secretariat.
"Several countries have applied for membership, including Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Armenia, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan and others. <…> We are, in principle, ready to consider this issue and to come to some conclusion in agreement with the relevant applicants and member states of the organization",
Mehrdad Kiaei said.
He emphasized that these countries would become observers at first, and then they could count on full membership, Izvestia writes.
Let us remind you that last week, the President of Türkiye emphasized that the republic was interested in membership in the SCO.
