A commemorative evening dedicated to great Heydar Aliyev, a great figure of the Soviet and independent periods, the architect of today's Azerbaijan, the creator of the new policy, which is determined and continues to determine the external policy of Azerbaijan, has taken place recently at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Russian Federation.
Opening the commemorative evening, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu noted that it is right that a significant part of his life was connected with Moscow.
''There are people in this hall who worked with Heydar Aliyev here in the Moscow Kremlin: his assistants, and people who were close to him. He was a member of the Politburo, the First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers. This means a lot.
They were difficult times, especially in the first years, when sovereign Azerbaijan was formed after the collapse of the USSR. The people, the intelligentsia, and their representatives asked to appoint Heydar Aliyev as the leader of the republic, realizing that there was no other solution to the problem. He had great experience, great authority, skills, the ability to solve the most difficult situations,’’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said.
Very cordial, sincere words about Heydar Aliyev were spoken by the special representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy.
"Heydar Aliyev was engaged in a very difficult sphere. He was engaged in the social sphere in the USSR when he was Deputy Prime Minister. And his understanding of the role of culture, science and education in the life of any country were great. He remained one more very important thing. He knew the value of international relations. And in this sense, I think that the depth of his understanding of the complex processes that occur in any multi-ethnic country was also excellent. And one more thing. He was a real patriot of his homeland, and he was a patriot of his native land. This is also his legacy,’’ Mikhail Shvydkoi concluded.
Former First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, the President of the Russian Union of Commodity Producers Oleg Soskovets, noted he had many touching memories about Heydar Aliyev.
"It happened in my life that I was responsible for some functions that were performed by Heydar Aliyev in the Soviet Union. They were the operational control of the state, the state economy, and the market economy. In my opinion, these features were performed by him absolutely professionally and quite objectively,’’ Soskovets told.
The Chairman of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Ties with Compatriots, Leonid Slutsky, noted that Heydar Aliyev's life was not easy, but he untiringly and efficiently served his people. Thousands of people decided to build their professional career based on the example of Heydar Aliyev.
