The European Union countries spent 15.6 billion euros on purchasing gas from Azerbaijan supplied in 2022, according to Eurostat.
According to the data, Azerbaijani gas cost 13.2 billion euros for Italy, 1.9 billion euros for Greece and 383 million euros for Bulgaria.
Last year, Azerbaijan ramped up its gas exports to 22.3 billion cubic meters (an increase of 18%), while supplies to Europe stood at 11.4 bcm (+39%).
