Azerbaijan is a very civilized country, Habiba Marzuk says

Azerbaijan is a very civilized country, Egyptian gymnast Habiba Marzuk said in an interview with the Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent on the sidelines of the 37th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku.

"I really like Baku. Azerbaijan is a very civilized country. It is a bit like Egypt, because our cultures are both Eastern, and it is also a modern, advanced state. I feel like at home here," she said.

"The competitions are organized perfectly, the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation planned every detail. This time, the competitions are more intense than at the previous World Championship in Sofia. I am thankful to the Baku spectators for their support,” Habiba Marzuk said.

“I was in Baku in a training camp four months ago and participated in the World Cup. People are very friendly here, they create a wonderful sports atmosphere,” the Egyptian gymnast admitted.

"The opening ceremonies are always wonderful. This, like the previous ones, truly conveyed the spirit of Azerbaijani culture," Habiba Marzuk added.

This week, on September 16-22, the 37th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships is held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. The tournament is the qualification competition for the 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo. More than 300 gymnasts from 61 countries are competing for nine sets of medals. The motto of the tournament is “Fairy tales will come to life”.
