Azerbaijan's "Pomegranate Holiday, Traditional Pomegranate Festival and Culture" was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture said.
The decision was made during the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Art of miniature practiced by Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey and Uzbekistan was also inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The adoption of these decisions was possible due to First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva's support and the joint activities of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO and the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.
