The Ministry of Defense Industry has already started to earn on military industry export from Azerbaijan, the Defense Industry Minister Yaver Jamalov said, adding that the cost of the already concluded export contracts has reached $106 million.
"Intense negotiations with other states are being conducted on the occasion. The measures will also be taken to find new markets for expansion of our export opportunities in the subsequent years," abc.az cited Jamalov as saying.
He added that the country has been exporting ammunition of various types, modern small arms, sniper rifles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to several States of America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
"Tests of UAV 'Zərbə', created for a short period on task of the President of Azerbaijan, were successful, and in the near future the vehicle will be transferred under authority of the national army. The device will be able both to control strongholds of the enemy and destroy them at any time," Jamalov said.
He added that some options of production of national armored vehicle Tufan are planned.
"The armored vehicle is designed for combat operations of various types and is equipped with remotely controlled 12.7-mm combat module, an anti-tank guided missile complex, radio-electronic equipment for fight and intelligence and other systems.
"Preparation of a prototype of the national armored vehicle is planned before the end of the year. At the same time, as a result of negotiations with foreign countries there will be prepared initial samples of new armored vehicles Ildırım and Qasırğa. The mass production will start since 2017," Jamalov said.
