The Financial Market Supervision Chamber (MNBP/FIMSA) will punish Azerbaijani banks for currency speculators, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber Rufat Aslanli said.
"If at such sensitive time banks do not comply with the requirements of the legislation when performing transactions on the currency exchange, or break them, we as the regulator will take actions the utmost rigour of the law," abc.az cited Aslanli as saying.
"We don’t receive information about each transaction of a bank. Once a month they submit reports, on the basis of which we evaluate their financial condition. But if we receive any information about any cases, i.e. particular appeals, we take measures," he explained.
He added that MNBP in collaboration with law enforcement agencies is fighting actively against currency speculators and illegal foreign exchange currency offices.
