The 'Azerbaijani night' event held witin the Ramadan Tent in Moscow, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's office in Russia.
The event was opened with the reading of verses from the Koran.
Adviser to the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Russia, Vugar Imamaliyev, addressed the guests. "On behalf of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation Polad Bulbul oglu, I welcome you today in this beautiful Ramadan tent. I would like to express special gratitude to the Government of Moscow, the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Moscow and Russia and thank them for the conditions created for us, the Muslims, in Moscow, in the capital of Russia," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited him as saying.
The diplomat recalled that today's iftar was organized by the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the head of the Russian branch of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the head of the Azerbaijani youth organization of Russia, Leyla Aliyeva. "I want to use this opportunity to thank Leyla Khanum for what she is doing for the development of society, for the development and strengthening of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. And today's evebibg is another event of rallying the Russian and Azerbaijani people, in the Russian Federation, in Moscow," Vugar Imamaliev stressed.
The adviser noted that the year of 2017 was declared the year of Islamic solidarity in Azerbaijan, within the framework of which the Games of Islamic solidarity were held. "A major event was held in St. Petersburg and many representatives of the Russian Muslim community took part in these events. In late December, a final event took place in Baku. I am very glad that it was addressed by not only representatives of the Muslim clergy of Russia, but also the message of Patriarch Kirill was read out by his representative, who took part in this event," he said.
The meeting was also addressed by the chairman of the local Muslim religious organization Ahl al-Bayt, Haji-Nizami Baloglanov.
"We also welcome all our Muslim brothers and sisters in this holy month, the holy Ramadan. And we thank the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva for such a wonderful celebration. The Ahl al-Bayt organisation has been a member of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia and Moscow for more than 20 years," Baloglanov said.
During the evening, video clips about Ramadan, Azerbaijan's history and culture, as well as charity were presented for the guests. An online quiz was held. Singer Samir Salam performed Muslim songs for the audience.
Then the Iftar was held on behalf of the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leila Aliyeva. Before the Iftar was started, the attendees were introduced to the culture and traditions of Azerbaijan.
The annual cultural and charitable project 'Ramadan Tent', which has become the embodiment of true Muslim hospitality, has been held in Moscow for more than ten years.
